20 november 2011 - Tanji and Brufut

This morning is always one of my favourite days. I love birding Tanji, especially when there are so many gulls and terns to look through. Nothing out of the ordinary today but of course the ordinary in Gambia is also good!
We saw plenty of Royal Terns, although this one was tormented by Pied Crows until it died. Once dead they all flew off, although i will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they went back later to eat it?
A pair of Giant Kingfisher were also present

This African Grey Hornbill was one of many in the coastal scrub
We also saw the usual Kelp Gulls, Tchagra, Swallow-tailed Bee-eater, Pied-winged Swallow etc.
After lunch we headed to Brufut, where this Osprey passed over
And a mad 10 minutes of falcons produced Red-necked, Lanner and this Grey Kestrel all at close range (the others were just too fast for the photographer!)
It was also a good day for sunbirds with Variable
Copper
and Splendids all seen
A great day ended with Sulphur-breasted Bush-shrike and Black Scimitarbill, among many others.
