This year i planned to arrive before the group to give me time to condition myself to the heat and hopefully see if West Africa was also benefitting from the largest ever influx of North American shorebirds in the UK. With this in mind Francis and i headed to Sukomona lagoon. The water levels were very high and 'small stuff' was hard to find. Still a pleasant afternoon with Mosque Swallow, Osprey, Marsh Sandpiper, Blck-winged Stilt, Squacco Heron, Yellow-throated Longclaw, Black Heron, Senegal Thick-knee, Pied Kingfisher, Black-shouldered Kite and Green-backed Heron all being seen.
